So you wanna be an Ironman?

So you wanna be an Ironman?

I didn’t really. But I became one. Not once, but twice. I became a triathlete over 5 years ago. Call it peer pressure. Fast forward to 2012 and I complete my first Ironman distance race in Cozumel Mexico. It was incredible. Knock it off the bucket list, one and done. Fast forward again to 2014 and here I am! I  just completed my 2nd Ironman in Los Cabos Mexico this past Sunday. Life works in strange ways.     Let me explain what an Ironman triathlon entails. Its a 2.4 mile swim, usually in an ocean, 112 mile bike ride, […]

New York State of Mind…….

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Some of you may already know that I am a New Yorker born and bred. My favorite time to go back and visit friends and family is always this holiday. The city is just starting to get festive, the weather is usually cooperative (not this trip though!), and the holiday excitement is just beginning! I went back as a semi tourist this time. I took my daughter to the Big Apple Circus. We saw the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. We visited the American Girl store for a new doll. The usual tourist stuff. However, I […]

Fur Real?

There’s a new restaurant in town, Selanne Steak Tavern. It is the old French 75 spot and owned by the famous Duck’s hockey player Teemu Selanne.  It is quite the scene and nice to have a new hot spot to frequent in Laguna Beach. The best part is that when I was there last week I ran into my talented friend Katharine, designer and owner of Katharine Story boutique. I used to visit her store in Laguna on Ocean Avenue and loved her innovative fashions and one of a kind artistic pieces. I had not known she moved to a […]

How to get a dress

Bon Jour! I have a personal story I would like to share because I find it absolutely fascinating. This most likely can be filed under the Lifestyle heading of Gladstone Lifestyle & Clothing although it involves clothes as well, actually just 1 very special dress. As a stylist, I am constantly observing  and analyzing fashion. At every event I attend, I notice details. Every single detail of every single person at that event. You may say its a sickness, but I call it a talent. Having said that, at a recent very high profile event, as I was analyzing or […]

Hail to Halston

Halston Heritage has its own store now in Fashion Island across from Neiman Marcus. I was invited to a lovely event they put on with JDRF last evening. Yummy appetizers from 24 Carrots, champagne of course, and a chance to preview the fabulous designer’s entire collection!     It is only ok to have the same dress on at a party when its a model and she changes every 15  minutes! I love this gown, as it is a signature Halston Heritage design, easy to wear, comfortable and very flattering. It is available in various prints and fabrics and is […]

Fashion DuJour

I went on a field trip last night to the Valley. Westfield Topanga had an amazing event with DuJour Magazine that brought together fashion’s finest while sipping fine champagne and nibbling from the caviar bar. A combination of celebrities, Fran Drescher among the attendees, socialites, PR people, press, fashion reporters and stylists came together to enjoy an interesting evening of fashion.             The highlights of the event included a panel of fashionistas interviewed by the Sr. fashion editor of Marie Claire, the elegant Zanna Roberts Rassi. The panel consisted of Jeanann Williams, celebrity stylist in […]
